The
Musical Pods are a set of 3 consoles each loaded with a set
of audio samples. By pressing buttons on the pods visitors
can create their own musical compositions simply and
effectively. The Pods
were developed to provide a short but exciting interactive
experience for 8 to 15 years olds but have proved equally
popular with all ages. Each Pod is loaded with a different
musical style (Hip-Hop, House and Jazz) and
contains a backing track over which users can play short
clips of bass, guitar, synth and vocals. At the same time
the domes on top of the consoles will respond to the music
with sound triggered lighting effects. The House Pod includes
a sound-to-light flower made out of acrylic rods which
lights up in time with the music. The Hip-Hop Pod
includes a dome made of Fresnel lenses which magnify
little beads that dance about in time with the music,
illuminated by ultraviolet light. The Jazz Pod contains
an LCD screen inside a video sphere which shows images of
the users from a set of miniature video cameras mounted
in the top.
