RAMJAM2 &

Pratyahara

Nerve Festival

ICA, London

The Nerve Festival of Art, Music and Media was held at the ICA Galleries in London in September 1999 and organised by NerveSystems. Stem collaborated with Hexstatic to produce a new version of RAMJAM in the main bar. Robert Pepperell also collaborated with Miles Visman to produce an animated version of a transcendent image. The piece was called Pratyahara and was shown in the main cinema. An online version can be seen here.

The theme of the festival was the human senses and the collaboration between Stem and Hexstatic allowed users to manipulate audiovisual clips relating to vision, hearing, taste, smell and touch. The main bar at the ICA was fitted with sound and video consoles connected to a sampler and a computer. Visitors could then jam along with the DJs in the bar.
